What to Expect

To ensure a smooth and safe experience at the HBMC Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU), we ask that you follow these guidelines and prepare accordingly:

1. Arrival Time
   • Please check in two hours before your procedure time. This allows our staff ample time to complete the admission process, which includes changing into surgical attire, answering admission questions, and starting your IV.
2. How You Can Help
   • Bring a current medication list, including the last time each medication was taken.
   • Be prepared to provide information about your past medical history and the last time you ate or drank.
   • For your safety, ensure you have a designated driver to take you home after receiving anesthesia or procedural sedation. Additionally, have the name of a person who will assist you during the first 24 hours after your procedure.
3. What to Bring
   • Bring only your insurance card, ID, and a form of payment (if needed for any co-pays or medications).
   • Leave all valuables and personal items at home, as space for securing belongings is very limited.
4. Preparation
   • Remove all jewelry before coming to the hospital.
